Architecture Overview

BroadNode™ technology is deployed on a variety of structures. Typically, this technology utilizes residential structures and commercial buildings. It is not designed for point to multi-point solutions on cellular towers with the standard omni antenna configuration. Towers can be used to rapidly deploy backhaul to other locations but they are not required. We offer a tower based solution for longer distance links utilizing sector antennas in the BroadNode architecture. Using Towers to serve subscribers directly are only recommended for rural areas.

This technology architecture hops from rooftop to rooftop. Coverage is not ubiquitous with this system but the per-square mile cost is only a fraction of the DenseNode™ architecture. This solution does require customer premise equipment to connect subscribers to the system; unlike our DenseNode™ system.

The patented hybrid network design utilizes both bridges and routers to reduce the overhead of IP routing latency and reducing jitter per hop below those of mesh solutions. This is critical for deployments that plan on utilizing voice or video requiring low jitter and low latency. The system uses the 802.11b/g 2.4GHz frequency band for a customer that is 802.11 compatible utilizing 802.11e QOS and outdoor rate control. This supports mobility options for users on laptops and other WiFi compatible devices.

Proven Reliability

The technology has been proven through the deployment of thousands of devices over a diverse geographic environment. Overall network availability of 99.99% allows operators the ability to compete with the local telephone company, which increases revenue and market share. The hardware has been built in static protection to reduce the problems and failures associated with static storms. The enclosures are industry grade access boxes with water tight, corrosion resistant connections.

This system is perfect for regional WISP's who are interested in a low cost build-out of a region. The system includes battery backup, AC status monitoring and a complete Network Management System.
